První vosk na lyže přišel na trh v roce 1922 právě od německé značky Holmenkol. 

Společnost vyvinula první voskový systém založený na syntetických surovinách. Klasifikace podle barev platí dodnes a stala se tržním standardem. 

Nyní se značka zaměřuje výrobu vosků na lyže, čistící a ošetřovací prostředkyy, lyžařské kryty a materiály na povrch lyží.
