Hubs are an important component of a wheel that are constantly under high demands. Shimano hubs principally use reliable and serviceable cup-and-cone ball bearing systems while most other hub manufacturers use sealed cartridge bearings. Hubs axles are designed to be compatible with either quick releases, thru axles or axle nuts.
