Cassette Tools
In most cases a chain whip and a lockring remover are required to remove the cassette from the freehub. Lockring removers come in many different types, the most common being Shimano HG, and less common are those for Campagnolo lockrings. The chain whip is used to hold the cassette and keep it from rotating when you loosen the lockring. When removing a freewheel from a hub, you'll need the appropriate remover. The most common for multi-geared freewheels is a Shimano compatible freewheel remover, but there are several other removers for singlespeed freewheels or electric bike mid-motor cogs and freewheels.
