Description

Cervélo R5 is a road frameset for building a race-focused bike with an emphasis on low weight and precise tracking. The frameset is ready for electronic shifting, so the build targets modern road configurations.

Frame and geometry

The frame is made from a carbon composite and is intended exclusively for electronic shifting because it has no openings for cable housing. The design uses thru-axles, complemented by a Cervélo All-Carbon carbon fork with a tapered steerer. The headset fit follows the FSA SL IS2 standard with integrated cups.

Components

Drivetrain: The frameset is ready for electronic shifting and clean cable routing. The specific groupset, number of speeds, cassette, and bottom bracket are entirely up to the chosen build.

Brakes: The frame and fork are designed for disc brakes with a thru-axle standard. The manufacturer does not include calipers or rotors in the kit.

Wheels and tires: The frame uses Cervélo Aero Thru Axles, M12x1.5 front and M12x1.0 rear. Wheel size and tire choice depend on the complete build and the intended discipline.

Cockpit: The package includes the Cervélo HB18 Carbon carbon cockpit in a handlebar-and-stem combination. A Cervélo SP33 Carbon carbon seatpost is also included.

Ride characteristics

The R5 carbon frame aims for efficient power transfer when riding out of the saddle and stable support at high outputs. The tapered carbon fork increases steering precision under braking and on fast descents. Thru-axles support lateral stiffness around the hubs and consistent rotor alignment.
