Cervélo S5 is one of the fastest road bikes on the market today.
Cervélo has long earned respect for its passion for aerodynamics and its relentless pursuit of speed. The S5 has already proven its racing performance with successful results at the Tour de France. Overall winner Jonas Vingegaard and green jersey winner Wout van Aert unveiled the new Cervélo S5 along the way.
To maximize the permitted shapes under UCI rules, Cervélo created more protruding frame sections and a new fork design that simplifies the entire front end of the bike. At the same time, more space was created for the new Reserve wheels.
Overall, the S5 has managed to reduce the bike’s weight. Thanks to these innovations, the S5 is even simpler, faster, and easier to handle than ever before.
In the race for speed, everyone tries to find the best position for themselves, a longer stem, and a more aggressive aerodynamic stance. The S5 makes this easier with its installation and adjustment options. All necessary spacers are included with the bike, and instead of specific bolts for each stem type, there is just one bolt length. Mounting the handlebars is simpler, and they offer 5° rotation for a better fit. This change reduced the system weight by 53 g.
You won’t find a longer seatpost on the bike, and the new S5 is supplied with a 15 mm offset clamp in most sizes (compared to the original 25 mm).
The S5 is compatible only with electronic shifting, which allowed optimization of the overall shaping and the clean flow of the design.
The S5 allows tires up to 34 mm wide and is optimized for new wider wheels fitted with 28 mm tires. These wheels, developed according to Turbulent Aero protocols, deliver savings of up to 5 watts.
Cervélo, in collaboration with Reserve, developed a rim shape that has a less dramatic effect on handling at higher yaw angles. The result is a more stable and comfortable ride that requires less effort and attention from the rider.
