The Cervélo S5 is one of the fastest road bikes available today.
Cervélo has long been respected for its passion for aerodynamics and its continuous quest for speed. The S5 has already proven its racing performance by successfully participating in the 2022 Tour de France. Overall winner Jonas Vingegaard and green jersey winner Wout van Aert introduced the new Cervélo S5 in this way.
To maximize the allowed shapes under UCI rules, Cervélo designed more pronounced frame parts and a new fork design that simplifies the entire front end of the bike. This also created more space for the new Reserve 52/63 wheels.
Overall, the weight of the S5 bike has been reduced. Thanks to innovations, the S5 is now smoother, faster, and easier to handle than ever before.
In the race for speed, everyone tries to find the best position for themselves, with a longer stem and a more aggressive aerodynamic position. The S5 facilitates this with installation and adjustments. All necessary spacers come included with the bike, and instead of specific screws for each stem type, there's just one screw length. The attachment of the handlebars is simpler, featuring a 5° rotation for better customization. This adjustment has reduced the system's weight by 53 g.
The bike doesn't feature a longer seatpost and the new S5 comes with a 15 mm seatpost offset for most sizes (compared to the original 25 mm).
The S5 is compatible only with electronic shifting, which has allowed for optimization of the entire shaping and smoothness of the design.
The S5 supports tires up to 34 mm wide and is optimized for the new wider wheels fitted with 28 mm wide tires. These wheels, developed according to Turbulent Aero protocols, allow for savings of up to 5 watts.
Cervélo, in collaboration with Reserve, developed a rim shape that has less dramatic effects on riding at greater lean angles. The result is a more stable and comfortable ride that requires less effort and attention from the rider.
