DT Swiss C 1800 SPLINE – an aluminum classic for cyclocross and gravel

C 1800 SPLINE is the kind of wheelset you buy and then don’t think about for a long time. An aluminum rim, straightpull spokes, a proven DT Swiss hub, and the Ratchet system — a combination with tens of thousands of kilometers behind it in mud, gravel, and on asphalt. DT Swiss builds them as a race cyclocross set, but with a 22 mm internal width they work just as well today for gravel, or as a second, “workhorse” wheelset for winter and training.

Rim

The aluminum rim with a 23 mm depth and a 22 mm internal width (26 mm external) is ideal for tires from cyclocross 33 mm all the way up to gravel volumes around 45–50 mm. The profile is hooked and Tubeless Ready in the DT Swiss TC version, so you can choose — tubeless with sealant, or the classic setup with a tube. Tubeless tape (25 mm) and aluminum valves are included in the package, so there’s no need to buy anything extra. Presta valve.

Hubs and Ratchet

The 370 hubs with the Ratchet LN 18 mechanism are the workhorses of the DT Swiss lineup. Unlike pawl systems, all the teeth of the ratchet ring engage at the same time, which means even power transfer and a significantly lower tendency to be damaged when pedaling out of the saddle or when accelerating uphill in technical terrain. Service is simple — you can take the mechanism apart without special tools, and any upgrade to Ratchet EXP with quicker engagement is just a matter of swapping two rings.

Freehub body is available in Shimano ROAD (HG, 11-speed road) or SRAM XDR versions — choose according to your drivetrain. 12 mm thru-axle front and rear, disc rotors with Center Lock mount.

Spoking

DT aero® II straightpull spokes in a 2× lacing pattern with the same spoke count on both sides (1:1) keep the wheel stiff under lateral loads in corners and under disc braking. DT ProLock Squorx ProHead nipples with a loosening lock — a practical detail you’ll appreciate after the first truly rough course.
