Galfer brake pads designed exclusively for Sram Maven series brakes are labeled FD575. Four compounds are available.
Galfer identifies types of compounds by color - select the compound according to the color:
PERFORMANCE G1053 (formerly "Standard" - black): they are suitable for general conditions. They have a harder compound and thus the longest lifespan. Their braking power is reliable in all conditions.
ADVANCED G1851 (For wet conditions - red): they excel in extreme conditions, have a "softer" compound, and wear out faster.
PRO G1554T (For racing - green): they do not require "breaking in." They are immediately effective, offer great modulation, can withstand higher thermal stress, and are excellent even in wet conditions.
E-BIKES G1652 (E-bikes and DH - purple): designed for higher thermal stress, appreciated mainly by DH racers and e-bike riders, but not exclusively.
The general rule is that the softer the compound (sharper braking and better in wet conditions), the faster they wear out, and vice versa.
We recommend taking the compound names and their colors as guidelines. Purple is ideal and correct for e-bikes, but that doesn’t mean you can't choose this compound for a road bike. In endless Alpine descents, you will surely appreciate it. It’s really ideal to choose based on how you brake, the conditions you ride in, and not mechanically based on color/name.
