Galfer brake pads designed exclusively for Sram Maven series brakes are labeled FD575. Four compounds are available.
Galfer distinguishes the compounds by color - choose the compound according to the color:
PERFORMANCE G1053 (formerly "Standard" - black): suitable for general conditions. They use a harder compound, which means the longest service life. Their braking power is reliable in all conditions.
ADVANCED G1851 (For wet conditions - red): they excel in extreme conditions, use a “softer” compound, and wear faster.
PRO G1554T (For racing - green): no “bed-in” required. They are effective immediately and offer excellent modulation and feel, can handle higher heat loads, and are outstanding even in the wet.
E-BIKES G1652 (E-bikes and DH - purple): developed for higher heat loads, which will be appreciated especially by DH racers and e-bike riders, but not only them.
In general, the softer the compound (sharper braking and better in the wet), the faster it wears, and vice versa.
We recommend treating the compound names and their colors as a guideline. Purple is ideal and correct for e-bikes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get this compound for, say, a road bike. You’ll certainly appreciate it on endless Alps descents. Ideally, choose based on how you brake and the conditions you ride in, rather than mechanically selecting by color/name.
