Road cyclists and gravel enthusiasts deserve pro-level gear. The Cielo model offers the style, features, and comfort that set Giro apart from the pack. Inspired by the Aries model and with nods to iconic models like the Aeon, the compact design of the Cielo maximizes ventilation with 22 vents connected by deep internal channels.
The integrated MIPS Evolve Core protection works with the premium Roc Loc 5 Air fit system. If you're looking for performance, protection, and standout style, choose Cielo.
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) provides enhanced protection against rotational forces on the head.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
Helmet sizing system. It's most easily identified by the simple and effective rear thumb-turn knob, which improved fit over the older two-button system and allowed Giro to reduce weight. Despite its minimalist design, the Roc Loc 5 is durable.
