Giro Fixture II MIPS Youth is a versatile junior MTB helmet suitable mainly for trail riding but also for classic MTB trips.
The helmet features a proven In-mold construction with 16 ventilation holes, which, together with the Roc Loc® Sport fitting system, ensures maximum safety and comfort.
It also features MIPS technology, which only enhances its safety.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet.
