Helios – top-notch protection and maximum comfort on every ride.
The Helios model is equipped with revolutionary Spherical technology (Powered by MIPS) combined with the reinforcing Aura arch, which we developed in collaboration with brain protection experts. This innovative system is among the most advanced solutions for protection against rotational forces in the market.
The helmet's construction consists of two separate shells that function on a joint principle. The outer part can smoothly rotate around the inner shell upon impact, significantly reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain. The inner part, which is in direct contact with the head, is also made from a softer material for an even higher level of safety and comfort.
Optimal ventilation is ensured by 15 vents that effectively dissipate heat even during intense performance. Precise and easy custom fitting is enabled by the Roc Loc 5 Air retention system, which ensures the helmet fits perfectly and stays in place.
Wearing comfort is enhanced by the pleasant inner pads with Ionic+ antimicrobial treatment, which help maintain freshness even during longer rides.
Helios is the ideal choice for cyclists seeking a combination of maximum protection, top technology, and comfort without compromise.
Spherical technology uses two separate inserts to help manage impact forces. The material and density of the inner and outer liner can be optimized with progressive layering to help handle a wide range of impact forces. When you combine the benefits of progressive layering with the market-leading MIPS® Brain Protection System, which helps redirect rotational motion away from the brain, you get more comprehensive protection.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
Helmet sizing system. It's most easily identified by the simple and effective rear thumb-turn knob, which improved fit over the older two-button system and allowed Giro to reduce weight. Despite its minimalist design, the Roc Loc 5 is durable.
