Giro Scamp II MIPS reliable helmet with the design of the top model Manifest.
The low weight is ensured by EPS foam together with a durable polycarbonate shell, which are connected by In-mold technology, and the helmet is further enhanced with Mips technology, which significantly reduces the amount of rotational force during a fall.
Roc Loc Jr retention system ensures easy and secure fitting and a total of 13 ventilation openings keep even very hot heads cool. Just choose the right size and color for your little biker!
The helmet can be equipped with the GIRO Scamp II Vent Light, order code: 7159920
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
EPS is expanded polystyrene. It is a strong and rigid material with a cellular structure, composed of 2% polystyrene and the rest is air.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
