Mountain and Trekking Front Derailleurs
The largest sellers of shifting components are SRAM and SHIMANO. Shimano derailleurs are categorized according to how they mount (clamp band, direct mount, e-type) and by cage action (top swing, bottom swing, side swing). For clamp band mounted front derailleurs, the diameter of the clamp is adjusted with included shims.
When choosing a SRAM derailleur, we have to look at several things at once. Cable pull, bottom or top mounted clamp band and clamp diameter.
