Nukeproof Cub-Scoot 12 Yellow is an off-road-focused kids’ balance bike, built like a mini MTB to practise balance and managing body weight. It’s designed for children from roughly 2 years of age and a height of 90–105 cm. It sits in the lightweight, thoughtfully engineered class of balance bikes, with components sized for children’s ergonomics.
The frame is made from a aluminium alloy with a low standover height for easy mounting and confident push-offs. The design prioritises stability at low speeds and easy manoeuvring in tight spaces. The saddle height is adjustable, so the riding position can be continuously adapted as the child grows. The bike is ready for fitting a rear brake for later practice with braking.
Drivetrain: The balance bike has no gearing and no pedal drivetrain. The footrest features a protective rubber platform to rest the feet when coasting.
Brakes: The frame is ready for installing a rear brake. A specific brake set is not included in the build.
Wheels and tyres: The bike uses 12" laced wheels with a lightweight build, 16H front and 20H rear. Vee Rubber tyres measure 12x2,25 for greater stability and confidence on gravel.
Cockpit: Nukeproof handlebars are 440 mm wide with a 25 mm rise. The Nukeproof stem is 40 mm long, complemented by kids’ grips and a Nukeproof kids’ saddle.
Wide 12x2,25 tyres increase mechanical grip and reduce sensitivity to bumps on forest paths or gravel. The low standover height makes it easier to hop off quickly, improving control in situations where the child loses balance. The lightweight build supports quick push-off starts and easier handling when carrying. The option to add a rear brake supports a gradual transition to one-finger braking technique.
This balance bike is intended for children 90–105 cm tall who are moving from walking to smooth riding and need a stable platform for balance training. It also makes sense for parents who want more off-road use beyond smooth asphalt, including gravel and pump tracks. Compared to typical city balance bikes with narrow tyres, it targets confidence on rougher surfaces.
