Salewa Ortles Guide 2 38L backpack Faded Green/Black

Description

When the terrain breaks into steep couloirs and snow alternates with rock, you want a pack that keeps its shape and pace. The Salewa Ortles Guide 2 38L backpack Faded Green/Black is built for technical mountains where there’s no room for unnecessary extras.

Main benefits

The 38-liter capacity is ideal for all-day ski mountaineering and more demanding trips with gear. Inside, you have space for layers, food, and safety equipment without constant repacking.

The Dry Back Contact system back panel helps maintain stable contact with your back while still supporting ventilation. The pack sways less on the ascent and is easier to control on traverses.

The Robic® nylon with UHMWPE ripstop grid material is chosen for durability when it comes into contact with rock and ski edges. In practice, that means more peace of mind when handling it in tight spots.

The option to “trim weight” thanks to the removable lid and hip belt is practical when you only want the essentials. One setup can handle a traverse, another a quick fast-and-light push.

Technical specifications

The pack volume is 38 liters in the 30–39 liter category.

The material is Robic® nylon with a UHMWPE ripstop grid.

The back panel is designed with the Dry Back Contact system.

Conclusion

Salewa Ortles Guide 2 38L is a men’s yet versatile backpack for ski mountaineering, hiking, and trekking. Thanks to well-thought-out attachment points and stable carry, it’s suited to terrain where gear is often strapped to the outside.

If you switch between ski ascents, hiking approaches, and movement in technical sections, you’ll appreciate how easily the pack can be adjusted. The overall design feels compact and stays out of the way when you need your hands free.
