When the pace picks up and the descent starts flying by under your wheels, you need brakes that keep your line—and your head—steady. Shimano 105 BR-R7170/ST-R7120 gives you confidence in corners, in the wet, and during long braking efforts. This front lever-and-caliper set feels natural from the very first pull.
The hydraulic disc brake delivers power smoothly, so it’s easy to choose anything from light feathering to hard deceleration. Control through the ST-R7120 shift/brake lever feels clear in your hands and maintains stable contact with the bike. The BR-R7170 caliper supports predictable braking performance even in changing road conditions. Polymer pads with cooling help keep performance consistent during repeated braking.
The assembly’s technical designation is BR-R7170 + ST-R7120 for road bikes. The braking technology is a hydraulic disc brake filled with mineral oil. The set is designed for a 160 mm front rotor. The BH90 brake hose has a hose length of 75 cm.
This Shimano 105 front set makes sense if you’re building a sporty road bike or upgrading your current setup to hydraulic discs. The lever-and-caliper combination feels compact and helps you stay in control on technical descents. Thanks to matched compatibility with the Shimano 105 group, it integrates seamlessly and keeps the controls operating smoothly.
