By employing a laminate of SILCAthane, SILCAlon, and 3M visco-elastic adhesive instead of a single foam extrusion, the tape can be optimized for a variety of desired properties. The resulting tape is softer and more comfortable, offering better grip in both wet and dry conditions, improved vibration isolation, and a 3–5x longer lifespan than other tape materials.
Applying the tape is as crucial as the wrap itself; hence, Silca developed a "butterfly" with a fully adhesive backing for better coverage of the rear section, topped off with an aluminum end cap.
