With its compact rounded design and high light output, the Silva Seek 420 headlamp is a practical tool for most outdoor activities – from hiking and running to camping.
The Silva Intelligent Light technology combines two white LED diodes with lenses that simultaneously create both a wide and a long-distance beam of light. This results in more natural lighting and better spatial perception.
The main light output reaches up to 420 lumens, with the headlamp offering three white light levels and a red diode for dimmed, unobtrusive lighting, ideal for use in a tent or in company.
Power is flexibly managed – either three AAA alkaline batteries or the Silva Hybrid 4.6 Wh rechargeable Li-ion battery can be used (batteries are not included).
The headlamp is equipped with a battery status indicator via colored diodes: after turning off the light, a green diode lights up when capacity is above 50%, or a red one when it is below this threshold.
There is a button lock to prevent accidental activation, for instance, during transport in a backpack.
The comfortable elastic headband is 25 mm wide and has an inner silicone strip for better stability during movement. Two quick-adjust buckles make it easy to adapt the circumference to different head sizes.
The headlamp is made from recycled plastics, and its construction meets the IPX5 standard, ensuring resistance to water jets from all directions.
Weight without batteries (including headband): approximately 69 g, weight with the Silva Hybrid rechargeable battery: approximately 94 g, weight with 3×AAA: approximately 99 g.
The technical parameters of Silva headlamps (for the Seek 420 in the gallery) are measured according to the ANSI FL1 standard. Battery runtime is not the time to complete discharge but the time until the light output decreases to 10% of the initial value measured 30 seconds after switch-on; the headlamp then switches to a reserve mode. Battery life is affected by ambient temperature and type of activity; for example, during running or cycling, the reflector is better cooled; on the contrary, sub-zero temperatures decrease battery capacity. Range is specified as the distance at which the illumination intensity drops to 0.25 lux, approximately the intensity of lighting provided by a full moon under a clear sky.
