Handcrafted WTB Proterra Light i23 Rear Wheel.
The WTB Proterra i23 is made from lightweight 6069 aluminum alloy. The aluminum alloy provides optimal strength while maintaining a low weight. The rear wheel weighs 966 g. The rim surface is treated with blasting (sandblasting), ensuring long-lasting durability and resilience.
The 23 mm internal rim width offers an optimal profile for road and gravel tires. Thanks to the rim width, you can fit tires with a width of 30–42 mm on the wheel.
The rim profile with optimized walls provides the perfect combination of rigidity and durability.
The hubs use quality EZO bearings, known for their easy serviceability without the need for special tools or proprietary accessories, and a solid six-pawl freehub with a reliable engagement upon a rotation of 3.7°.
TCS is a standardized tubeless system by WTB, offering optimal performance and reliability. TCS components reduce weight, enhance traction, virtually eliminate flats, and have become established as one of the most reliable tubeless systems available. Additionally, Proterra wheels feature a Solid Strip—an additional strip located in the rim’s central channel beneath the standard tubeless tape, designed to ease installation, ensure the entire system’s seal, and prevent damage to the ordinary tape.
Each Proterra wheel utilizes the TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) and comes with a pre-installed Solid Strip, TCS tubeless tape, and black alloy valves.
Tubeless rims and tires have a design adapted for tubeless use, provided they are supplemented with sealant, tape and valves. Tubeless tires provide the rider with many benefits - the ability to run the tire with lower air pressure, which improves traction, lower rolling resistance compared to a tube tire, and less chance of a puncture.
