Academy Grade 3 Edition Funtasy is a lightweight 16" children's bike with quality components. Suitable for children from 105 cm, aged 4 to 6 years.
The weight of the bike significantly influences how much children enjoy their ride. A quality children's bike must be lightweight and easily adjustable. Therefore, the bike weighs only 5.5 kg and is equipped with quality components. The lowered top tube makes it easier for children to get on and off.
Stem
The patented Syntace Vario stem grows with children both in height and length. It is smoothly adjustable and 100% stable in every position.
Q-factor
The Q-factor describes the total width of the cranks and plays an important role in pedaling efficiency. Ideally, the Q-factor of the bike should match the rider's natural stride width. A smaller Q-factor is more ergonomic, while a too-large Q-factor forces the feet into an "X" shape when pedaling. This prevents ergonomically correct, smooth pedaling, which can lead to knee pain and rapid fatigue. Academy bikes have one of the smallest Q-factors on the market and are therefore ideally designed for children.
Saddle
The flat saddle provides maximum support and prevents slipping off. The optimal saddle cover (neither too soft nor too hard) prevents sinking in and offers a comfortable and secure sitting position, increasing comfort and enjoyment of the ride!
Tyres
Since Academy children's bikes focus on the power-to-weight ratio for children, they feature lightweight and narrow VEE TIRE Rail tyres. Their tread makes them ideal for both city riding and gravel paths. Moreover, they look good and, thanks to reflective stripes, provide the necessary visibility in traffic.
Belt Drive
Here too, the bikes adhere to the "super lightweight concept" – belt drives are extremely light. Additional advantages include lower maintenance requirements, longer lifespan, and they are also very quiet.
Designed by SCOOL
The developers of Academy bikes, in collaboration with the German Institute for Orthopedics, Osteopathy, and Sports Medicine (DIOOS) under the leadership of Dr. Andreas Elsner, have succeeded in developing ultralight children's bikes that meet the latest ergonomic requirements. All models are lighter than 40% of the average child's weight, and frames with low and narrow bottom brackets allow children to pedal effortlessly. Short cranks and an upright sitting position always allow the feet to reach the ground while ensuring an ergonomic knee position when riding.
