Academy Grade 3 Edition Funtasy is a lightweight 16" kids' bike with quality components. Suitable from 105 cm, for children aged 4 to 6 years.
The weight of the bike greatly affects how much kids enjoy riding it. A quality children's bike must be lightweight and easily adjustable. That's why the bike weighs only 5.5 kg and is equipped with quality components. The lowered top tube makes it easier for children to get on and off.
Stem
The patented Syntace Vario stem grows with children both in height and length. It is smoothly adjustable and 100% stable in every position.
Q-factor
The Q-factor describes the overall width of the cranks and plays a crucial role in pedaling efficiency. Ideally, the Q-factor of a bike should match the natural step width of the rider. A smaller Q-factor is more ergonomic, while an overly large Q-factor forces the legs into an "X" shape while pedaling. This prevents ergonomically proper, smooth pedaling, which can lead to knee pain and rapid fatigue. Academy bikes have one of the smallest Q-factors on the market, making them ideally designed for children.
Saddle
A flat saddle provides maximum support and prevents slipping off it. An optimal saddle cover (neither too soft nor too hard) prevents sinking in and provides a comfortable and secure seating position, enhancing both comfort and riding pleasure!
Tires
Because Academy children's bikes consider the power-to-weight ratio for kids, they feature lightweight and narrow VEE TIRE Rail tires. Thanks to their tread pattern, they are ideal for both city riding and gravel paths. Additionally, they look good and provide necessary visibility in traffic due to reflective stripes.
Belt Drive
Here, too, the bikes adhere to the "super light concept"—belt drives are extremely lightweight. Other advantages include lower maintenance demands, longer lifespan, and they are also very quiet.
Designed by SCOOL
The developers of Academy bikes, in collaboration with the German Institute for Orthopedics, Osteopathy, and Sports Medicine (DIOOS) under the leadership of Dr. Andreas Elsner, have managed to develop ultra-lightweight children's bikes that meet the latest ergonomic requirements. All models are lighter than 40% of the average child's weight, and frames with low and narrow bottom brackets allow for effortless pedaling. Short cranks and an upright seating position always allow children to reach the ground with their feet while ensuring an ergonomic knee position during riding.
