The Alpina Ravel Reflective helmet is a very light and comfortable helmet. It has strategically arranged ventilation holes that ensure 100% airflow.
Thanks to the reflective properties of the helmet, it will be especially visible in all weather conditions. Extra thin wall thickness and the thin shape of the helmet with optimal protection thanks to HI-EPS ensure maximum comfort.
The integrated In-Mould technology ensures maximum safety in all conditions. It includes antibacterial padding.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
HI-EPS stands for High Expanded Polystyrene. The internal of the in-mold Alpina helmets are made of HI-EPS. These are very small beads of a special polystyrene in which a robust process gives rise to the internal shell of the helmet. This material does not absorb sweat or water. If damaged (e.g. after a fall), the helmet must no longer be used, as it is beyond repair! It should be noted that shock absorption is not only ensured by the HI-EPS material, but also by the overall construction of the helmet. If the bicycle helmet is used "every day", it is recommended to replace it after about 4 years.
