Cervélo Aspero-5 gravel frameset Orchid

Description

Cervélo Aspero-5 gravel frameset Orchid is a race-focused foundation for building a fast 700C gravel bike. It targets experienced riders who care about aerodynamics, integration, and precise tracking on both hardpacked and rough courses. In terms of spec, it’s a premium frameset that includes a carbon cockpit and seatpost.

Frame and geometry

The frame is carbon, with integrated storage in the downtube and mounts for a top-tube bag. The geometry is balanced for race gravel, with an emphasis on stability at higher speeds and predictable handling. Sizes are 48, 51, 54, 56, 58, and 61, with reach of 369–413 mm and stack of 500–625 mm. Chainstay length is 422.5 mm across sizes, and wheelbase is 993–1064 mm.

Components

Drivetrain: The frameset is designed to be built with your chosen groupset and cassette. Expect both 1x and 2x gravel setups depending on your preferred cadence.

Brakes: The frame uses disc brakes with direct mount calipers. The specific rotor size depends on the fork and brake setup used.

Wheels and tires: Compatible wheels are 700C, i.e., 28". Maximum tire width is 45 mm for more volume and confidence on gravel.

Cockpit: The package includes carbon handlebars, a stem, and a seatpost. You choose the specific saddle and bar tape based on your fit and the type of courses you ride.

Ride characteristics

The design focuses on speed on the flats and efficiency in headwinds, which suits gravel racing on hard surfaces. The stiff rear end with a 422.5 mm chainstay supports power transfer during acceleration and when exiting corners. Balanced geometry and a longer wheelbase in larger sizes increase stability on descents. For even more precise handling, you can fine-tune control by running different tire widths front and rear.

Who it’s for

This frameset makes sense for riders building a gravel bike primarily for racing and fast rides. You’ll appreciate it if you care about aerodynamics, integrated bag options, and a clean setup without compromising stiffness. Compared to more versatile gravel frames that prioritize comfort, it’s more oriented toward pace and efficiency.
