Cervélo Aspero gravel frame set Dusty Unicorn

Description

The Cervélo Aspero gravel frameset is the foundation for building a fast gravel bike in a race-focused class. It’s designed for experienced riders who want to choose their own drivetrain, wheels, and cockpit for a specific use case. It comes as a frame with a fork for 700c wheelsets.

Frame and geometry

The frame is carbon and is built around a stiff platform for gravel racing and fast gravel transitions. Included is the full-carbon tapered Cervélo Aspero fork, which supports precise tracking under braking and when cornering. The headset uses the FSA IS2 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 standard with cups integrated into the frame. The seat area is designed for a 27.2 mm seatpost, which improves longitudinal compliance off-road.

Components

Drivetrain: The frameset is supplied without a shifting groupset and without a bottom bracket. The build is up to you depending on the chosen number of speeds and chainring type.

Brakes: The frame is designed for disc brakes. The specific manufacturer and rotor diameter are chosen based on the fork used, hubs, and calipers.

Wheels and tires: The frame is intended for 700c wheels and tires for gravel use. The choice of rims, hubs, and tire width will define the bike’s character on asphalt as well as on gravel.

Cockpit: The set includes the frame and fork; the remaining parts are selected according to the desired position and riding style. The frame uses a 27.2 mm seatpost and supports clean cable routing depending on the chosen components.

Ride characteristics

The Aspero carbon frame focuses on power transfer during acceleration and stability at speed on gravel. The tapered full-carbon fork increases the torsional stiffness of the front end, which is noticeable when braking into corners. A 27.2 mm seatpost helps filter small impacts and reduces fatigue on rough surfaces. Combined with 700c wheels, the frame supports brisk riding on the flats and holds pace on long stretches.

Who it’s for

The Cervélo Aspero frameset is for riders building a gravel bike with an emphasis on speed and precise handling. It makes sense for gravel racing, fast group rides, and training on mixed surfaces. Compared to more comfort-tuned gravel frames, it’s aimed more at a sporty riding position and higher demands when it comes to component choice.
