Gore-Tex is a registered brand with a history dating back to 1958, often associated with waterproof fabrics. The Gore-Tex material consists of a narrow porous membrane made of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon), which is laminated between other textiles, most often nylon or polyester. The company PrimaLoft deals with and develops synthetic insulation. These PrimaLoft insulation fibers are very thin and as such are warm, waterproof, breathable and highly compressible.
