Description

Garmin Edge 530 PRO is the latest generation of bike computers in the Edge 5XX series.

Typical features of this series include button control, a highly readable color display, compact dimensions, and reliable functionality in any weather.

Garmin Edge 530 offers detailed map displays, the ability to upload additional maps into the bike computer's memory, and route calculation to a destination based on the map in memory. Unlike models with a touchscreen, it is not possible to browse, pan, and easily zoom in/out if you want to view the surroundings or route progress. The new model offers improvements over older versions of Edge 5XX, including compact dimensions, low weight, and a 13% larger display compared to the previous Edge 520 model. The new display offers a larger diagonal as well as a higher resolution.

The new processor contributes to generally faster responses of the Edge 530 bike computer, both when navigating the menu and when calculating the route to a destination. A new feature is CLIMBPRO, which provides detailed information and evaluation of climbs on a planned route. The MTB DYNAMICS feature provides advanced mountain biking statistics.

Safety features have also been improved. Traditional safety features include the ability to connect a cycling radar and monitor vehicles approaching from behind, or automatic incident detection and sending messages to pre-set emergency contacts. A new feature is FIND MY EDGE, which helps locate a lost bike computer in case of an accident or loss, and the BIKE ALARM, which alerts to unwanted bike movement if you stop for a break.

The Edge 530 bike computer includes a highly sensitive GPS, GLONASS, and GALILEO receiver for accurate and reliable determination of position, speed, or distance, even in areas with limited sky visibility. A built-in barometric altimeter with automatic calibration via GPS handles precise altitude measurement. The bike computer is supplemented by Bluetooth connectivity and can connect with a smartphone (iOS, Android, Windows Phone), from which it can receive text messages, calls, and other notifications, as well as weather forecasts or use it for data connections with a training server. The smartphone remains an accessory for the bike computer, as the Edge 530 functions fully without the presence of a phone.

Edge 530 can utilize external wireless ANT+ and Bluetooth sensors.

It is possible to connect a heart rate monitor, speed/cadence sensor, power meter (e.g., Garmin Vector), cycling radar (Varia Radar), or even a cycling "head-up" display Varia Vision (all optional accessories) or smart cycling lights. When connected to a power meter, the bike computer can measure performance parameters such as VO2Max, FTP (Functional Threshold Power), and when using the Garmin Vector Double power meter, it can even provide left/right leg balance or separate evaluation of riding seated and standing.

The Edge 530 bike computer is compatible with STRAVA segments, which it can upload into its memory, alert to them on the track, show comparison with leading times during the ride, and log the achieved result into the STRAVA leaderboard after the ride.
