Giant Fathom E+ EX is a trail-oriented electric mountain bike, equipped with accessories for everyday use. It’s aimed at riders who want one bike for both forest trails and urban commuting in the same mid-performance category. In the EX build, it combines a high-torque motor, a large battery, and practical accessories.
The frame is made from ALUXX aluminum alloy and uses a 148x12 mm thru-axle for the rear end. The Overdrive 1.125"–1.8" head tube increases front-end stiffness under braking and when holding a line. The integrated KSA40 mount allows a kickstand to be fitted without modifying the frame. Front suspension is handled by an SR Suntour XCR34 2CR coil with 130 mm travel and a 15x110 mm Boost axle.
Drivetrain: Shimano Cues shifting runs a 1x10 setup with a Shimano Cues 10-speed rear derailleur. The Shimano Cues 11–48T cassette works with a Shimano Linkglide CN-LG500 chain.
Brakes: Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes use 180 mm rotors front and rear. Shimano BL-MT200 brake levers have a light action and offer good power modulation.
Wheels and tires: Giant XCT 29 Tubeless Ready rims have a 25 mm internal width and are optimized for e-bikes. Maxxis Rekon 29x2.4" tires in EXO and 60TPI casing focus on fast rolling and stable traction.
Cockpit: Giant Connect TR Riser handlebars have a 31.8 mm clamp diameter and a 750 mm width in size S. The Giant Contact Switch Core dropper post has 100 mm of travel and makes it easier to manage your center of gravity.
The combination of 29" wheels and 2.4" tires supports stability at higher speeds and predictable handling on gravel. 15x110 mm and 12x148 mm Boost axles add precision through berms and under braking. 130 mm travel and the coil fork filter rough sections better than shorter trail travel. The SyncDrive Pro 2 motor with 85 Nm of torque makes climbing at a lower cadence easier.
Giant Fathom E+ EX is for more experienced riders who want a trail hardtail while also dealing with city commuting. The EX version makes sense where you’ll use a rack, lights, and a kickstand without additional installations. Compared to purely sporty hardtails, it adds practical equipment while keeping trail-ready parameters.
