The Giant XTC SLR 29 1 S Tempest Purple is a mountain XC hardtail on 29ers built for performance cross-country and marathon racing. It sits in the mid-performance class, where pedaling efficiency, low frame weight, and precise tracking are key.
At its core is an ALUXX SLR Aluminum alloy frame with dropouts for a 12x148 mm thru-axle. The construction uses advanced tube butting to reduce weight while maintaining high stiffness. The geometry is race-tuned for XC, prioritizing efficient power transfer and stability at higher speeds. The bike is designed for tires up to 2.4" wide and supports a chainring up to 36 teeth.
Drivetrain: Shimano Deore SH-M6200 shifting is mechanical and runs a 1x12 setup. The Shimano M6200 cassette offers a 10–51-tooth range, and the Praxis bottom bracket is press fit.
Brakes: Tektro Orion HD-M6041 hydraulic disc brakes use a 180 mm Tektro rotor up front. At the rear, the rotor diameter is 160 mm.
Wheels and tires: Giant XCT 29 wheelset is tubeless-ready. Maxxis Recon Race 29x2.4 TLR EXO tires are folding and designed for lower rolling resistance.
Cockpit: Giant Connect XC handlebars are 740 mm wide with a 31.8 mm clamp diameter. The Giant Contact Switch AT dropper post is controlled from the handlebar and offers travel depending on frame size.
The ALUXX SLR aluminum frame targets a high stiffness-to-weight ratio, which you’ll notice during acceleration and when riding out of the saddle. The Giant Crest XC Comp fork with 100 mm travel smooths out impacts at XC pace, and the handlebar lockout helps on transfers. The combination of 29" wheels and 2.4" tires improves traction and line-holding on loose surfaces. The dropper post makes it easier to manage your center of gravity in technical sections and on descents.
The bike is aimed at experienced riders who want an XC hardtail for racing, fast training rides, and marathon courses. It will also appeal to those looking for an aluminum alternative to carbon XC models, but who still want modern equipment including a dropper post.
