The Source MIPS helmet combines advanced technology with above-average safety—an ideal helmet for trail riding.
The Roc Loc 5.5 retention system helps it fit securely on your head, and it also features an integrated MIPS liner, whose main purpose is to reduce rotational forces acting on the head in the event of a crash.
In total, the helmet has 17 vents that allow excellent airflow, helping to prevent your head from sweating—even during hot summer weather.
On the top and underside, there is a layer with durable polycarbonate that protects against everyday wear and tear.
Sizes: S (51–55 cm), M (55–59 cm), L (59–63 cm)
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
