It's more comfortable, versatile, and adjustable than ever before. With a new look and a purposeful redesign of the iconic Triple Triangle, the new GT Grade is designed for longer and faster rides across a wide range of surfaces.
"The GT brand celebrated great success with the launch of the original Grade model in 2015. GT was at the forefront of the emerging gravel bike scene, being the first to introduce a model with a carbon frame equipped with disc brakes, designed for riding on gravel paths," said Patrick Kaye, GT's product manager. "The increased performance and added adaptability tailor the GT Grade to current trends."
The new GT Grade model features a completely redesigned Triple Triangle frame, with floating seat stays compared to the original model. This solution enhances comfort during all-day rides on varied terrain thanks to increased vertical compliance.
The front fork on the top two carbon variants is equipped with flip chip technology, allowing for the adjustment of the bike's geometry by changing the position of the front axle, providing a choice between increased stability or sharper steering response. The axle can be moved by 15 mm, increasing the fork offset from 55 mm to 70 mm. The smaller offset is ideal for gravel race days, while 70 mm is useful when the bike is fully loaded with bikepacking bags.
The seat stays are made from a mix of lightweight carbon and fiberglass. The massive fiberglass core provides resilience and damping abilities, while the outer layer of carbon fiber increases stiffness. GT refers to this combination as Dual Fiber Dynamics. Thus, riders experience a bike that enhances control and reduces fatigue.
For long journeys and endless adventures, the Grade is equipped with mounting points on the fork and frame. A handy bag can be attached to the top tube, there are 'anything cage' mounts on the fork, and alloy frames feature bottle mounts on the seat stays!
An important parameter is tire clearance. Grade follows current trends by fitting tires with a width of 37 mm, striking a good balance for road and gravel rides. However, the bike can accommodate widths up to 42 mm for true off-road adventures.
The Grade is designed with easy maintenance in mind, echoing the brand's philosophy. The shifting and brake cables are routed externally. Di2 and dropper post, which aren't expected to be frequently replaced or serviced, have internal routing for a clean frame appearance. The Grade also has no specific components, allowing riders to customize the bike to their preferences without hassle.
