Cordura fabrics are usually made of nylon, but can be a blend of nylon with cotton or other natural fibers. The history of Cordura dates back to 1929.
Spandex, Lycra or elastane are synthetic fibers known for their exceptional elasticity. It is stronger and more durable than natural rubber. It is a polyester-polyurethane copolymer that was invented in 1958 by chemist Joseph Shivers at DuPont's Benger Laboratory in Waynesboro, Virginia.
