Description

Nukeproof Cub-Scout 14 kids’ bike Yellow is a children’s mountain bike with 14" wheels, designed for a first pedal bike after a balance bike and for basic off-road riding. It sits in the sporty mini MTB category with an emphasis on low weight and kid-friendly controls. It’s built around a simple single-speed drivetrain and disc brakes for speed control.

Frame and geometry

The frame is made from 6061-T6 aluminum with butted tubing, designed for a low standover height. The fork is rigid, also 6061-T6 aluminum, with a straight steerer for precise tracking. The geometry is trail-focused with a 67.5° head angle and short 260 mm chainstays. For the 14" size, reach is 258.46 mm and stack is 323.73 mm.

Components

Drivetrain: Single-speed 25x14T gearing with Samox 89 mm cranks and a double chain guard. The chain is a KMC Z1 Wide and the pedals are Wellgo LU-968 9/16".

Brakes: Clarks mechanical disc brakes with Tektro JL352-rs short-reach levers. Rotor diameter is 160 mm front and 140 mm rear.

Wheels and tires: The built wheels use 14" rims with 16 spokes up front and 20 spokes at the rear. Vee Rubber Crown Gem tires measure 14x2.25".

Cockpit: Nukeproof handlebars are 480 mm wide with 25 mm rise. The Nukeproof stem is 40 mm long and the Nukeproof seatpost measures 27.2 x 260 mm.

Ride characteristics

The rigid aluminum frame and rigid fork provide a direct pedaling response and predictable cornering on hardpack. The short 680.7 mm wheelbase supports easy maneuvering at low speed. The 2.25" tires increase mechanical grip on dirt and gravel while also helping to smooth out small bumps. Disc brakes with short-reach levers allow controlled braking even for smaller hands.

Who it’s for

The bike is intended for children from around 3 years old and a height of 95 to 110 cm who are moving from a balance bike to a pedal bike. It’s suitable for bike paths, hardpacked roads, and light trails, where you’ll appreciate the wider tires and disc brakes. Compared to typical kids’ bikes with rim brakes, it adds stronger braking power and better control on rougher surfaces.
