The Scorpion E-MTB was made for high-performance mountain e-bikes and is resistant to their power. Its patented HyperWALL construction ensures downhill tire reliability without excessive weight while the SmartGRIP Gravity rubber compound delivers grip on dry and wet surfaces along with excellent tear resistance thanks to an innovative and sustainable chemical component called Lignin. The tire can thus maintain its performance throughout its lifetime even with partial wear of the tread.

An innovative technology that Pirelli has brought into the world of cycling thanks to its experience and background in motorsport: a newly designed bead and sidewall tire construction that further enhances its characteristics - handling with low air pressures and pinch resistance. Key features for off-road use, especially in the most demanding disciplines like gravity and eMTB, are the bead integrity and sidewall stability. The tread with a sophisticated rubber compound design greatly relies on and its behavior is dependent on the bead and sidewall stability and integrity. Pirelli introduced a construction where the bead and sidewall insert are securely bonded by a woven material link, so they act as a single unit, not two separate components with potential movement against each other, which is the common standard for tire constructions. The benefits of this technology in numbers (based on Pirelli's internal lab and practical tests): improved bead stability (+10%), better pinch resistance (+50%), better handling with low air pressures (+25%), greater sidewall puncture resistance.
The HyperWALL construction is a technology intended for mountain e-bikes because it provides additional sidewall tire reinforcement and better puncture resistance. The rubber insert securely connected to the bead gives excellent pinch resistance, as well as stronger support at lower inflation pressures.
