Santa Cruz Blur 5 CC 29 27 frameset Matte Carbon

Description

Santa Cruz Blur 5 CC 29 27 frameset Matte Carbon is a full-suspension MTB foundation for a race-ready XC build. It targets experienced riders who care about low frame weight and pedaling efficiency. This is a premium frame platform with a shock and 120 mm of travel.

Frame and geometry

The frame is made from a carbon composite using CC Carbon technology, designed for race cross-country. The full-suspension design features 120 mm of travel and is engineered for high torsional stiffness under power. The set includes a Fox Float SL Factory shock in 190 × 45 mm. The offered frame size is L, and the color is gray.

Components

Drivetrain: The frameset is intended to be built with modern 1x XC drivetrains. Cassette and bottom bracket choice depends on the specific build and the crank system used.

Brakes: The frame supports disc brake mounting for XC use. Rotor size can be tailored to the selected wheels and fork.

Wheels and tires: The 29"/27.5" concept allows a build with mixed wheel sizes depending on the desired ride feel. It’s best to match rim, hub, and tire selection to the target course and rim width.

Cockpit: Choose the cockpit to suit your preferred XC position, typically with an emphasis on control at speed. The frameset supports standard stems, handlebars, and seatposts for race use.

Ride characteristics

The full-suspension XC frame design with 120 mm travel focuses on efficient power transfer while pedaling. The Fox Float SL Factory shock provides a sensitive initial stroke and stability under higher loads. The 29"/27.5" setup lets you tune handling toward speed over rough sections or agility in slower passages. The carbon frame reduces overall build weight and helps hold an accurate line through corners.

Who it’s for

This frameset is designed for sporty and competitive XC riders who want to build a bike around their own priorities. It makes sense for courses with frequent accelerations, climbs, and technical descents, where the 120 mm travel comes into play. Compared to aluminum frames in the same category, it delivers lower weight and greater structural stiffness.
