With the Shimano 105 BR-R7170 + ST-R7120, you get confidence in your hands that will back you up on fast descents and in heavy traffic. Shifting is purely mechanical, and the brake delivers its power smoothly and predictably.
The combination of the left lever ST-R7120-L and the BR-R7170 caliper delivers precise mechanical shifting along with strong hydraulic braking performance for a road bike. The controls feel natural because you’re working only with mechanics and system pressure.
The Flat-Mount design keeps the caliper tucked low to the frame and contributes to a clean look as well as practical fitment on road frames. The two-piston caliper builds on a proven design for consistent deceleration.
More pad clearance helps reduce the risk of rotor rub and makes wheel removal easier. In everyday riding, you’ll also appreciate quieter operation with minor rotor deviations.
Easy lever reach adjustment lets you fine-tune your grip to match your hand size and handlebar shape. Maintenance is straightforward thanks to one-way bleeding and the use of mineral oil.
Front brake set: ST-R7120-L + BR-R7170, J-kit version.
Hydraulic disc brake for a road bike with Flat-Mount mounting.
Pre-installed SM-BH90-JK-SSR hose with a length of 1000 mm.
L05A-RF Resin with Fin brake pads made from polymer with a cooling fin.
This Shimano 105 front disc brake targets riders who want a crisp mechanical shifting feel and the confidence of hydraulics when braking. It’s suited to builds compatible with the Shimano 105 R7100 groupset.
It also makes sense for anyone who wants quiet operation and reasonably easy maintenance without dealing with electronics. Materials like CFRP in the body and aluminum in the lever and caliper support low weight and a secure grip.
