Shimano Deore XT RD-M8260 SGS Di2 12 speed rear derailleur

Description

Shimano XT Di2 RD-M8260 is a robust 12-speed electronic rear derailleur for electric mountain bikes. It draws power directly from the e-bike battery and supports AUTO SHIFT and FREE SHIFT. Thanks to the SGS cage, it can handle cassettes with a 10–51-tooth range.

Main benefits

No worries about charging
The derailleur is connected directly to the e-bike’s main battery. It doesn’t need its own or a backup battery, so you get stable power and you’ll never be left without shifting.

Durability for demanding terrain
The flat, wedge-shaped body helps avoid most rock strikes. The smooth surface then allows the derailleur to slide over obstacles. The design is reinforced by a wide pivot, a protective skid plate, a tough aluminum plate, and solid pulleys.

Automatic return after impact
The Automatic Impact Recovery function immediately returns the derailleur motor to its original position after an impact. You can keep riding without stopping and making manual adjustments.

Fast, precise shifting even under load
Combined with a HYPERGLIDE+ cassette, this derailleur is among the fastest and most precise options available for shifting under full pedaling load. You’ll especially appreciate it on climbs.

Smart features for e-bikes
AUTO SHIFT shifts for you automatically based on the riding situation, so you’re always in the right gear. FREE SHIFT lets you shift even without pedaling, for example when rolling along on flat ground or on descents.

Technical specifications

The RD-M8260-12 derailleur belongs to the Deore XT M8200 Di2 group. It is designed for electric mountain bikes with a 1×12 drivetrain. It features a long SGS cage and is optimized for the CS-M8200 cassette with a 10–51-tooth range.

It mounts conventionally directly to the frame hanger and uses Shimano Shadow ES chain stabilization technology, a slimmer and stronger evolution of the Shadow RD+ system. Power and communication run via an EW-SD300 cable through a single E-Tube port. Firmware and shift settings can be updated and adjusted in the E-Tube Project Cyclist app. The body is made of aluminum, stainless and standard steel, and glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide (PA-GF).

Conclusion

Deore XT Di2 RD-M8260 brings electronic shifting to electric mountain bikes with know-how from the flagship XTR line. It’s a derailleur for riders who want lightning-fast, reliable shifting, impact resistance on the trail, and smart features that get the most out of an e-bike. Thanks to power from the main battery, there’s no need to worry about an additional battery.
