Smith Engage Mips is a mountain bike helmet for mountainbiking that stays stable even in rough terrain. It’s suitable for men and for universal use when you switch between trails, gravel, and forest singletrack.

Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
The Koroyd system consists of thousands of co-polymer extruded tubes that are heat welded to form a unique, consistent and fully engineered core. This technology can be integrated into products ranging from action sports equipment to industrial protection and child car seats. The deep green color and honeycomb shape is typical of this head and body protection system.
Created with ease of use and superior comfort in mind, the VaporFit™ system relies on a proven dial system integrated with a tuned elastic fit through engineered shapes. Each VaporFit™ system has a full 5cm of swivel adjustment. In addition, the system can be moved up/down or forward/backward at the attachment points. The end result is increased comfort with a tailored and secure fit.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
