Hard shell helmet construction using a strong ABS polymer outer shell with a high degree of puncture protection. The shell perfectly surrounds the light EPS core of the helmet adapted to the shape of the head and absorbing shocks, thus achieving a compact unit with a long life and high resistance.
EPS is expanded polystyrene. It is a strong and rigid material with a cellular structure, composed of 2% polystyrene and the rest is air.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
The quick adjustment system of the helmet straps allows for optimal helmet position adjustment. The helmet sits firmly on the head at all times and the straps stay in place.
The fastening mechanism located under the chin has several positions and can be easily adjusted with one hand while riding. Its flat design prevents twisting in the hands. Monomatic® is, without exception, standard equipment on all Uvex helmets.
