The Academy Grade 4 Belt is a lightweight 20" kids’ bike with high-quality components. Suitable for riders from 115 to 130 cm tall, for children aged 6 to 8.
The bike’s weight has a big impact on how much kids enjoy riding. A quality kids’ bike needs to be lightweight and easy to adjust. That’s why this bike weighs just 8.1 kg and is fitted with high-quality components. The lowered top tube makes it easier for children to get on and off.
Stem
The patented Syntace Vario stem grows with children both in height and length. It is infinitely adjustable and 100% stable in every position.
Q-factor
The Q-factor describes the overall width of the cranks and plays an important role in pedaling efficiency. Ideally, a bike’s Q-factor should match the rider’s natural stance width. A smaller Q-factor is more ergonomic, while a Q-factor that’s too wide forces the legs into an "X" shape when pedaling. This prevents smooth, ergonomically correct pedaling, which can lead to knee pain and rapid fatigue. Academy bikes have one of the smallest Q-factors on the market and are therefore ideally designed for children.
Saddle
The flat saddle provides maximum support and prevents slipping. The optimal saddle cover (neither too soft nor too hard) prevents sinking in and provides a comfortable, secure riding position that increases both comfort and the joy of riding!
Tires
Because Academy kids’ bikes focus on the strength-to-weight ratio for children, the bike is fitted with lightweight, narrow VEE TIRE Rail tires. Thanks to their tread pattern, they are ideal for both city riding and riding on gravel roads. They also look great and, with their reflective stripes, provide the visibility needed in traffic.

The developers of Academy bikes, in collaboration with the German Institute for Orthopedics, Osteopathy and Sports Medicine (DIOOS) under the direction of Dr. Andreas Elsner, have succeeded in developing ultra-lightweight kids’ bikes that meet the latest ergonomic requirements. All models are lighter than 40% of the average child’s weight, and frames with low, narrow bottom brackets allow children to pedal smoothly and effortlessly. Short cranks and an upright seating position make it possible to always reach the ground with their feet while also ensuring an ergonomic knee position while riding.
