The Bell Spark 2 MIPS is a versatile MTB helmet suitable for various disciplines such as trail, XC, and all-mountain.
The helmet features a proven In-mold Polycarbonate Shell with 13 ventilation ports, which, together with the Ergo Fit system, ensures maximum safety and comfort.
Additionally, it is equipped with MIPS technology, which further enhances its safety.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall.
