Introducing the new Topstone CAAD models in our article on iDomestik.cz
The Cannondale Topstone CAAD Lefty gravel bike in Sky Grey is built for fast riding on gravel roads, rough asphalt, and light off-road terrain. It targets experienced riders who are figuring out their gravel and bikepacking setup, including mounting options. Performance-wise, it sits in the mid-range, with an emphasis on practical standards and serviceability.
The Topstone CAAD frame is made from SmartForm C1 Alloy and uses a 12x142 mm thru-axle. Threading is handled via a BSA 68 mm bottom bracket and a UDH derailleur hanger for compatibility with modern derailleurs. StraightShot cable routing is ready for a dynamo as well, and the frame has mounts for bottle cages, bags, a rack, and fenders. The geometry is designed to be suspension-ready and accommodates a Lefty fork.
Drivetrain: Shimano GRX 610 shifting runs in a 1x12 configuration. The Shimano GRX 822 rear derailleur manages a Shimano SLX M7100 10–51 cassette, and the bottom bracket is Shimano BSA 68.
Brakes: Shimano GRX 410 hydraulic disc brakes use RT64 160/160 mm rotors. Mounting follows the flat mount standard.
Wheels and tires: WTB ST i25 TCS 2.0 rims are tubeless-ready and have 28 holes. WTB Vulpine TCS Light tires in 700x45c are tubeless ready.
Cockpit: Cannondale 3 6061 aluminum handlebars have 16° flare and 120 mm drop. The Cannondale 3 27.2 mm seatpost is compatible with a dropper post, and the saddle is a Selle Royal SRX Open.
The Lefty Oliver fork with 40 mm of travel improves front-wheel control on washboard gravel and rough terrain. The lockout helps reduce bobbing on pavement and on climbs. Wider 700x45c tires support stability and traction, especially at lower pressures in tubeless mode. The 1x12 setup paired with a 10–51 cassette helps keep cadence in steeper sections, even when loaded with gear.
This bike is for riders who want a gravel bike with a suspended front fork and mounting points for longer rides. It’s a good fit for technical gravel, fast transfers, and bikepacking with a rack and fenders. Compared to gravel bikes with a rigid fork, it offers more margin in rough terrain, at the cost of greater front-end complexity.
