The aluminum XC hardtail XTC SLR 29 is a more affordable alternative to the carbon models XTC Advanced 29.
It is designed with a focus on an excellent balance between efficiency and control, which is the ideal combination for performance and race cross-country riding.
The new frame XTC SLR is the lightest aluminum frame of a mountain bike ever produced in the Giant factories. By using high-quality ALUXX SLR aluminum alloy and an advanced butting process, the tubes of this frame are 20% thinner and thus lighter than the previous ALUXX SL model. Thanks to this combination of top material and the latest manufacturing methods, the frames are not only very light but also extremely rigid and durable.
The frame is designed with a focus on an optimal stiffness-to-weight ratio, which results not only in high pedaling efficiency but also in precise bike handling under various conditions. The special race-tuned frame geometry provides ideal stability and maneuverability across all XC terrains.
The Giant Crest 34 RRL air fork provides 100 mm of travel and features handlebar lockout. The Giant XCT 29 wheels are tubeless-ready from the factory for better riding characteristics and reduced risk of punctures—simply apply sealant. For even greater confidence on descents and technical sections, the bike can be equipped with a dropper seat post with a diameter of 30.9 mm.
Aluminum material is made predominantly from 6011 alloy and delivers the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any Giant aluminum frameset. State-of-the-art microscopic grain manipulation and advanced butting allows for 20% thinner and lighter tube shapes than ALUXX SL framesets.
The oversized fork steerer aims to increase the stiffness of the front of the frameset and steering for precise control. Oversized headset bearings (bottom 1 1/4" and top 1 1/8" on road bikes and bottom 1 1/2" and top 1 1/8" on MTB bikes) and tapered fork steerer are included for optimal steering stiffness .
Tubeless rims and tires have a design adapted for tubeless use, provided they are supplemented with sealant, tape and valves. Tubeless tires provide the rider with many benefits - the ability to run the tire with lower air pressure, which improves traction, lower rolling resistance compared to a tube tire, and less chance of a puncture.
