Fixture II MIPS is a helmet in a women's design, suitable for off-road, and its shape is derived from much more expensive models by Giro. It has an extended rear profile, providing enhanced protection for the back of the head.
MIPS is a slippery insert between the EPS shell (the body of the helmet) and the inner padding. In case of an angled impact (such as when you catch your head on a branch), the EPS shell of the helmet rotates a few millimeters over the MIPS layer, thus protecting the head and brain from a harsh rotational jerk.
The helmet is excellently ventilated thanks to the 16 vents and fits perfectly on your head using the Roc Loc Sport adjustment system, which can be easily tightened with one hand using an adjustment wheel and is compatible with ponytails.
It features a removable Snap-Fit 2 visor, reflective elements, and quick-drying padding.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
