Helios - top-tier protection and maximum comfort on every ride.
The Helios model is equipped with revolutionary Spherical technology (Powered by MIPS) combined with the reinforcing Aura arch, which we developed in collaboration with brain protection experts. This innovative system is among the most advanced solutions for protection against rotational forces available on the market.
The helmet's construction consists of two separate shells, functioning on a hinge principle. The outer part can smoothly rotate around the inner shell upon impact, significantly reducing the rotational forces acting on the head and brain. The inner part, in direct contact with the head, is made from a softer material for an even higher level of safety and comfort.
Optimal ventilation is ensured by 15 ventilation holes, which efficiently expel heat even during intense performance. Precise and easy custom fitting is made possible by the Roc Loc 5 Air retention system, which ensures the helmet fits perfectly and stays in place.
Comfort in wearing is enhanced by pleasant inner padding with Ionic+ antimicrobial treatment, which helps maintain freshness even on longer rides.
Helios is the ideal choice for cyclists seeking a combination of maximum protection, top-tier technology, and comfort without compromises.
Spherical technology uses two separate inserts to help manage impact forces. The material and density of the inner and outer liner can be optimized with progressive layering to help handle a wide range of impact forces. When you combine the benefits of progressive layering with the market-leading MIPS® Brain Protection System, which helps redirect rotational motion away from the brain, you get more comprehensive protection.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
Helmet sizing system. It's most easily identified by the simple and effective rear thumb-turn knob, which improved fit over the older two-button system and allowed Giro to reduce weight. Despite its minimalist design, the Roc Loc 5 is durable.
