Giro Register II MIPS takes this standard even further. It brings you the design, style, and ventilation of Giro’s best road helmets, built into this affordable, lightweight helmet with In-mold construction.
It’s designed for all recreational mountain bikers or cycle-touring enthusiasts. From the wide range of available colors, you’ll surely find the right one to match your bike or outfit. With a removable visor and an adjustable fit system tightened via a dial, you can always fine-tune the helmet so it feels perfectly comfortable.
This variant offers MIPS Evolve Core technology to reduce rotational forces on impact. MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) provides enhanced protection against rotational forces acting on the head.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
