The new enduro tire from Maxxis, named Assegai, was developed with significant contribution from downhill legend Greg Minnaar.
The tread pattern in the center is a combination of the proven patterns of Minion DHR II and DHF, where the DHF rolls well and provides confidence on hard surfaces, in corners, on wet roots, and rocks, while the DHR II adds speed and aggression when braking.
The construction of the side knobs was inspired by another popular tire, the High Roller. To top it off, it features Wide Trail construction for wide rims, tubeless compatibility, the excellent 3C Maxx Grip compound, making it an outstanding downhill/enduro tire.
3C MaxxGrip uses the softest rubber compound that offers superior grip and slow rebound properties for unmatched traction, especially in downhill use.
Two layers of material (2x60 TPI) are used from bead to bead, providing additional protection and stiffness to the sidewall for downhill.
Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tread pattern and profile of the tire on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tire profile, resulting in less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for 35mm inner rim widths, but have been proven to work in the 30-35mm inner rim width range. Maxxis Wide Trail XC tires are optimized for use with 30mm inner rims, but will work well on rims as narrow as 25mm. Maxxis does not recommend rims wider than 30 mm or narrower than 25 mm.
Tubeless tyres have many advantages: you can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance.
And where there is no tube, it also reduces the risk of punctures. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared to be mounted with sealant than other "tubeless" tires. The bead of TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer like a true tubeless UST tire.
Fully adapted for use on electric bikes, certified for bikes with an maximum assisted speed of 50 km/h. Of course, they can also be used on conventional bicycles.
