Compared to the previous version of the Forekaster, which was designed for fast XC bikes, this new model V2 (07/2022) is intended for modern trail bikes with 100-130 mm travel (Downcountry).
For comparison, the Forekaster V2 rolls faster than the Minion or even the Dissector, but provides more predictable cornering, climbing, and braking traction than the Aspen or Rekon.

Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tread pattern and profile of the tire on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tire profile, resulting in less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for 35mm inner rim widths, but have been proven to work in the 30-35mm inner rim width range. Maxxis Wide Trail XC tires are optimized for use with 30mm inner rims, but will work well on rims as narrow as 25mm. Maxxis does not recommend rims wider than 30 mm or narrower than 25 mm.
Tubeless rims and tires have a design adapted for tubeless use, provided they are supplemented with sealant, tape and valves. Tubeless tires provide the rider with many benefits - the ability to run the tire with lower air pressure, which improves traction, lower rolling resistance compared to a tube tire, and less chance of a puncture. We can most often come across names such as Tubeless Ready (TR or TLR), Tubeless Easy (TLE) or Tubeless Compatible (TC), etc. Despite different branding from manufacturers, the essence of the system is the same.
