Ripstop is a fabric with high strength, made using a special technique. Thin threads are woven into the fabric at a distance of 5-8 mm, giving it a articulated structure. This provides increased tear strength. In practice, it works by causing the tear to jam against the reinforced fibers which prevent it from continuing. Ripstop was developed in the USA during the Second World War for parachutes.
EVA, literally Ethylene-vinyl acetate is also known as Polyethylene-vinyl acetate i.e. PEVA. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, as the name suggests. The weight of the vinyl acetate component is in the range of 10 to 40% and the remainder is ethylene itself. Its physical properties is as an elastomeric polymer, i.e. a substance that excels in high elasticity. Thanks to its unique composition, it ranks among the most light yet flexible and soft materials. It is therefore not a classic thermoplastic, which is often commonly used for the production of many products around us.

I’d like some advice choosing new shoes for a mountain bike. I have an XC bike with SPD pedals. I’m looking at the “kind of normal footwear” option, but I don’t know if it’s the right choice. I currently ride up to 1000 km per year, so very recreationally. Thanks for the reply. Petr O.
Rád bych si nechal poradit při výběru nových treter na horské kolo. Mám XC kolo s PSD pedály. Koukám po variantě "rádoby běžná obuv", ale nevím, zda je to ta správná volba. Ročně jezdím momentálně do 1000 km, takže velmi rekreačně. Díky za odpověď. Petr O.
