With the Smith Forefront 3 Mips MTB helmet in Matte Chalk, the trail feels calmer and easier to read, even as the speed picks up. You have more mental space for your line—not for worries.
Impact protection is supported by the combination of Mips® Air Node, an internal roll cage reinforcement frame, and full KOROYD® coverage from the front, back, and sides.
Ventilation with 20 vents and the AirEvac™ system increases airflow by 25% compared to the previous generation and helps reduce goggle fogging.
The BOA® Fit System lets you fine-tune the helmet fit with one hand—even when you're stopped on a narrow singletrack.
An adjustable visor and storage slots for both sunglasses and MTB goggles at the front and back keep your gear within reach on climbs and descents.
The in-mold construction uses an internal roll cage reinforcement frame to distribute impact forces.
Safety technologies include Mips® Air Node and full KOROYD® coverage.
An approximate weight of 390 g in size M supports comfort on long rides.
CPSC, CE EN 1078, and AS/NZS2063 certifications confirm suitability for mountain biking.
Smith Forefront 3 Mips is a trail and all-mountain helmet for riders who want a balance of protection, ventilation, and everyday practicality. Matte Chalk looks clean, and the helmet pairs well with a wide range of bike and apparel colors.
Thanks to the well-designed fit with the BOA® Fit System, dedicated eyewear storage, and efficient heat dissipation, you can focus on the ride—not your gear. It’s equipment that makes sense from fast singletrack to technical descents.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
