SMITH Sidekick Jr. Helmet offers kids the style and protection that the "big" bikers have.
This helmet combines a classic MTB look with extended back-of-head coverage and the proven Mips® Safety System, which helps protect against angled impacts and falls.
Lightweight in-mold construction fuses a durable outer shell with EPS foam cushioning into one sturdy and comfortable unit.
Thanks to the adjustable dial fit system, the helmet easily adapts to different head sizes - two children's sizes are available for riders approximately 4 to 12 years old.
It includes an integrated visor, comfortable inner padding, and twelve ventilation holes for a continuous supply of fresh air.
AirEvac™ system ensures that goggles do not fog up, and with its low profile and lightweight strap, the helmet is almost unnoticeable on the head.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
EPS is expanded polystyrene. It is a strong and rigid material with a cellular structure, composed of 2% polystyrene and the rest is air.
AirEvac is a patented ventilation system that works with the ventilation holes on the Smith glasses, they have a constant flow of air through the entire system. Ventilation in the front of the helmet brings cool, dry air into strategically placed channels in the helmet shell. Vents on the top and back of the shell are used to exhaust hot air that would otherwise be trapped around the wearer's head. This airflow contributes to a more comfortable riding experience and also helps prevent the glasses from fogging up.
